Start Where You Are

Trail Post #2

Have you ever noticed that when you try to play catch up you get further behind? When I started scrapbooking, I didn’t start with day one. I started where I was in my then current season of life, I kept up with what was happening, then as I went back and took care of the older photos as I had time.
When looking for your sweet spot, start where you are. Don’t dwell on all the things you should have done or could have done but didn’t do. Let it go. Don’t get anxious about missed opportunity.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:12-14 (NIV).
Dealing with our past through prayer, forgiveness and sometimes counseling is in reality moving forward. But when we dwell in unforgiveness – either toward ourselves or someone else, bitterness and regret easily fill our days and keep our focus on the past. Looking behind us in this way will slow us down.
Keep your focus on the future and next time you’ll see the door of opportunity God opens for you.
