3 Benefits to Saying “No”

I am an idea person. It’s like letting the cows out of the pasture sometimes. Get out of the way or they might stampede. Ideas feel good. The possibilities make me feel like I can fly.

But….
It is easy to overextend. Over promise. I end up overwhelmed. Then where am I? Nothing gets done well because I am spread so thin.
I fall into this pit often. What “one more thing” can I do to get the word out about my book? A week ago, I reviewed an idea I had planned to implement and realized it would be detrimental to my family time. I said “no.”
Within an hour I got a phone call asking if I would teach a homeschool class. Soooooo tempting. It would have paid a bit and been helpful to the budget. But the cost to my sanity wasn’t worth it. I said “no.”
The funny thing is, the more I say no, the easier it gets. And there are benefits!
Here are three benefits I have found from saying “no.” It
1.     Gives me room to focus and be intentional in my life.
2.     Gives me margin to rest and restore my energy and sanity
3.     Gives me the right perspective that God is in control.
Do you find it easy to say no?
What benefits have you discovered from saying “no”?
